Ongole: Lawyers should come to the rescue of the poor people by utilising the legal provisions and cooperate with them, said MG Priyadarsini, the district judge and chairperson of District Legal Services Authority.

She participated as chief guest at the valedictory function of the two day training to Legal Aid Panel Lawyers by the Master Trainers on Advancing Lawyering Skills at the District Legal Services Authority office, on Sunday.

Priyadarsini said that the participation in training programmes like these and activities of the DLSA will help the lawyers to excel in their profession and get closer to the common people.

In the two-day programme, the master trainer R Srinivasa Rao explained the lawyers about the rights of the prisoners and the legal aid they are entitled to, the acts about the prisoners, settling the cases through mediation while another master trainer T Subbarao spoke on domestic violence, victim compensation and other topics.

The first additional district judge, RJ Viswanatham trained the lawyers on Senior Citizen Act.

The additional senior civil judge, R Sarat Babu, secretary of the DLSA and senior civil judge T Raja Venkatadri, vice-president of the Bar Association G Srinivasa Rao, about 100 lawyers from the district participated in the programme.
