Guntur: Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan urged the farmers to revolt against forcible land acquisition and assured that he will be at the forefront in protecting the interests of the farmers.

He opposed forcible land acquisition by the government from capital farmers. He made it clear that he will be at the forefront if police open fire against the farmers like at Basheerbagh in Hyderabad.

He said the government may take lands from farmers, if they give voluntarily and opposed forcible land acquisition for Seed Access Roads. Pawan conducted a meeting with the farmers at Undavalli on Sunday.

Speaking on this occasion, he said that it is not correct to say fertile lands in which farmers were cultivating multiple crops as lands where crops are cultivated depending on rain water.

Pawan pointed out that farmers who gave their lands for the Vizag Steel Plant were still regretting that they had lost valuable lands. He reiterated that he will support the farmers to stop forcible land acquisition. He said that the State capital should be constructed with pleasure and not with the tears of poor farmers.

He said protection of farmers’ lands is a Constitutional right. The government may bring 100 Acts to acquire lands for capital from the farmers but farmers have the right to protect their valuable lands.

Pawan recalled that earlier he had mentioned that the government could take land based on its requirement and that poor farmers were working and cultivating their lands. He suggested that the government conduct Grama Sabhas to acquire land.

Earlier, farmers complained that the police were asking them to produce ID cards to allow them to go to their own lands as their lands were located near the Chief Minister’s residence. Some farmers said just because of Pawan Kalyan they had voted in favour of the TDP in 2014 elections. They complained that the government had stopped power supply and was not sanctioning crop loans.
