Kadapa: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Thursday arrested a head constable for possessing disproportionate assets and recovered properties and documents worth more than Rs 7 crore in the market from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Chinna Veeraiah, a resident of Tyagaraya Nagar in Proddaturu town. Currently, the head constable is attached to B Matam police station.

Speaking to media at Proddaturu, ACB DSP M Naga Raju said during simultaneous raids conducted at his and relatives houses at Tyagaraya Nagar, James Nagar, Kothapalli, Midumpalli villages of Proddaturu mandal, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, they have unearthed 6 buildings, 3.5 acres of land at Cheepadu village, cash and ornaments.

Chinna Veeraiah was joined as constable in police department in 1993 and accumulated crores of rupees worth properties within a span of 18 years.

Acting on tip-off that the constable accumulated huge wealth illegally, the ACB officials conducted simultaneous raids on the properties of accused. The DSP said investigation was going on over the illegal assets of accused located in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
