Nellore: Condemning attack on the police station and cops, a few villagers of Rapur staged a protest at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, demanding to continue B Lakshmana Rao, as Rapur SI, against whom action sought by politicos and others.
They took out a rally in the city from VR College Circle up to the Collectorate on Wednesday and staged a stir raising slogans demanding an action against the persons, who attacked the police station.
They handed over a memorandum to District Collector R Mutyala Raju at his chamber. Speaking to the media, Venkateswarlu, a resident of Rapur, said that it is not fair to divert the issue owing to politics.
He also said that the SI counselled the local youth in the mandal not to get addicted to any bad habits. Another woman from the village, Gayatri, said that the SI had respect towards elders in the society.
She demanded to continue Lakshman Rao as SI in the same station. Earlier, some villagers of Rapur organised a protest near the Collectorate
and submitted a memorandum to the district officials, seeking action against the SI and police personnel.
