Vijayawada: The Department of Social Work of Maris Stella College in collaboration with Mahita and Plan International (NGOs) organised a programme to mark ‘International Youth Day’ on the college premises here on Friday.

The college correspondent Sr Sleeva lit lamp and commenced the programme in the presence of Dr Sr Jesintha Quadras, Principal, Dr Sr Lovely Jacob, HoD Social Work and Dr Shalini Prabhatha, Manager, Plan International and Dr MC Das, Management consultant and HRD Trainer.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Sr Lovely Jacob explained the theme of International Youth Day designated by United Nations on August 12, 1999.

Dr Shalini Prabhatha, manager, Plan International and alumni of the college, stressed on Girl Advocacy Alliance working for the development of children, concentrating on various issues like child marriages, child labour, child trafficking and other social issues where girls are deprived of their rights.

Correspondent Sr Sleeva and Dr Sr Jesintha Quadras, principal also spoke.
