French scholar Prof Daniel Neggers to translate Chintamani play into French

Pithapuram: A French national and an avid researcher of Telugu culture Prof Daniel Neggers, is bent on translating the popular romantic Telugu comedy drama Chintamani into French.

Also, he announced to translate Vajrayudham penned by noted poet Avantsa Somasundaram.

He claims to have translated at least 12 works, including folk tales, BurraKatha and Harikathas, in French.

He loves Telugu, which is the Italian of the east. He by-hearted several poems and short-stories.

Speaking in connection with the second death anniversary of noted poet Avantsa Somasundaram held here on Sunday, he said that he was not only researching on Telugu traditional practices but also translating many works into the French.

He arrived here for the first time in 1986 to research on the Burrakadhas and spent about two years in Peddapuram.

He described Prof AchchariGopalakrishna of AU as his mentor.

His objective was to accord permanent recognition to Telugu in France.

He is translating the Vemana Poetry, Amaravati Stories, folk stories and Burrakatha books in French.
