Kurnool: Assistant Director of the Mines and Geology department Amir Basha said that they will seize the mines that are being run illegally in the district. Amir Basha accompanied by Royalty Officer Nagaraj, visited Alur and inspected several quarries on Sunday.
During the visit, the officials first inspected SRK Constructions at Hulebedu village and another quarry at Karidiguddem village. Later, the officials also visited Holagunda mandal where gravel quarries are located. These quarries have been found operating without valid licence. The officials seized these quarries.
Later, the officials said to media persons that the raids are being conducted as per the instructions from the directorate of mines and geology. Almost all the illegal quarries are being raided and those found illegal would be seized, they said. The officials, Amir Basha and Nagaraj said that several complaints from the villagers of Alur and Holagunda mandals have been received with which inspections are being conducted.
Around 6 quarries, that are found to be illegal, have been seized in Alur mandal. The officials further speaking said that there are 498 quarries in Kurnool division, 184 in Adoni division and 745 in Nandyal division are in operation.
Most of the quarries are of granite, road metal, quartz, lime stone, slab, and iron ore quarries. Apart from these, 45 blasting magazine boxes in Kurnool, 4 in Adoni and 41 in Nandyal were also in operation, they stated.
Out of 4 blasting units in Kurnool, only one unit has been accorded permission and the other three are illegally carrying out the business. Even In Adoni jurisdiction, 7 blasting quarries are being operated.
Almost all quarries are being sealed, said the officials.Alur Circle Inspector, Dastagiri Babu, Tahsildar, Veerendra Goud, Village Revenue Officials (VROs) Ravi Kumar, Amarnath Reddy, Surveyor and others accompanied the mines and geology department officials.
