Tadepalligudem: Former minister and MLA Pydikondala Manikyala Rao came down heavily on municipal administration for its non-cooperation for the government scheme of Swachh Bharat.

He convened Swachh Bharat programme at Mandal Parishad Primary School located in Pedda Masidu area here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA expressed ire over the municipal chairman for ignoring his Swachh Bharat programme for four weeks.

Stating that the Swachh Bharat programme was being conducted in the town without any obstruction ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the programme in 2014, Manikyala Rao lambasted the municipal chairman had been preventing the sanitation staff from participating in his Swachh Bharat programme for the last four weeks.

It was anti-people to obstruct the sanitation staff from participating in his Swachh Bharat programme, he said, adding that hygiene and sanitation belonged to people and the chairman should allow the municipal sanitation staff to discharge their duties.

The former Minister alleged that due to non-cooperation of municipal chairman sanitation had deteriorated in many areas of the town.

Manikyala Rao informed his followers that he would continue to participate in Swachh Bharat in slums frequently from now onwards.
