Kakinada: Employees of Joint Action Committee consisting of teachers unions, revenue, NGOs, panchayat Raj, endowments department ministerial staff and allied associations staged dharna at East Godavari Collectorate here on Saturday, demanding that the government scrap Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
The dharna continued till evening. Assembling in large numbers, particularly women employees protested strongly against the CPS stating that it hampers their financial benefits on retirement. They demanded that the government restore the system prior to 2004.
