Amaravati: Intensifying the attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA government for not implementing the promises made under AP Reorganisation Act, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu warned them to stop telling cock and bull stories to people.
During a short duration debate on implementation of AP Reorganisation Act on Monday, the Chief Minister suggested Narendra Modi to implement the provisions in the Act in true spirit.
Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the Narendra Modi deceived the state with mala fide intention. The NDA government had been suppressing the state and was not fulfilling any promise made under the AP Reorganisation Act including bridging revenue gap, releasing Polavaram funds, funds for construction of Amaravati, establishing steel plant in Kadapa, increasing Assembly Constituencies from 175 to 225, dividing the High Court, according Special Category Status, assisting for the Backward Districts, establishing 11 central institutions, construction of metro rails in Vijayawada and Vizag, laying road and rail network to Amaravati capital city and many others.
He blamed that when the state government asked funds for construction of Amaravati, the central government released mere Rs 1500 crore and started saying cock and bull stories. He said that Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah were harassing the state government with vested interests.
He said that the state government submitted all the Utilization Certificates regarding the funds released to Amaravati, but they were arguing that UCs were not submitted. On the other hand, the central government was spending more than Rs 3000 crore for constructing statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, more than Rs 1 lakh crore for constructing bullet train in Mumbai, releasing funds to Dholera Industrial Corridor. But they are not helping state government.
Reacting on the revenue deficit, Chandrababu Naidu explained that the Central government was supposed to give Rs 16,700 crore as per the AP Reorganisation Act. But they gave only Rs 3,900 crore and saying that they would not give the remaining. The Chief Minister said that the Central government cheated the state even in releasing the funds for backward districts.
He explained that they were supposed to give Bundelkhand package to the seven backward districts in AP, but they gave just Rs 50 crore per district. He said that the Central government took back Rs 350 crore after releasing to the state, which was unethical on the part of central government.
On railway zone, he said that the Centre was misleading public by saying that the Odisha was opposing establishment of railway Zone at Vizag. Kadapa steel plant: “Why don’t you construct it? We are giving land, water, power... but you are not coming forward. We asked at least tax deferment. Instead of giving it, you are criticising us. Kadapa steel plant will be established at any cost,” declared Naidu.
The Central government promised to establish 11 institutions, but not allocated funds, though land was provided by the state government. Narendra Modi gave central university to Bihar, but not to AP, he said. He blamed that the BJP leaders were claiming ten years for implementation of the Act, whereas the public gave mandate to them for five years only.
