Visakhapatnam: Collector and Chairman of King George Hospital (KGH), Development Committee Pravin Kumar urged the Public Sector Units to speed up the release of funds for the completion of Oncology and Surgical Blocks construction in KGH.

Major PSUs including HPCL, ONGC, RINL and SAIL, as part of Corporate Social Responsibility activities, have accepted to provide about Rs 100 crore for the construction of various building complexes in KGH.

With the help of funds, the KGH management already started the buildings.

The KGH Development Committee meeting was held on Saturday chaired by Collector Pravin Kumar. The key officials of the PSUs, KGH and Andhra Medical College attended the meeting.

While reviewing the activities, collector Pravin Kumar said that with the help of PSU funds, the Oncology and Surgical Blocks construction started at an estimated cost of Rs 54 crore. However, the PSU have released Rs 18 crore only so far.

He requested the ONGC, BHEL, NTPC and HPCL officials to release the assured funds at an earliest to complete the construction works.
The collector directed the KGH Superintendent Dr A Arjuna to write a detailed letter to PSUs about their assured funds and dues.

The collector also asked the PSU officials to put up the proposals at their board meeting for immediate release of funds.

The meeting passed the bills of Rs 72.90 lakh works and sanctioned the proposals for laying internal CC roads and repairs of lifts.

On the occasion, the collector informed to members that the works and other arrangements for an exclusive Blood Bank in KGH were completed and the blood bank would be inaugurated on October 10.

Andhra Medical College Principal Dr P V Sudhakar and CSRMO Dr Sastry and senior officials of various PSUs were present.
