Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed hope that thousands of families would celebrate the next Vijayadasami festival in Amaravati as the construction and development of the capital city would reach a significant stage by that time.

He reviewed the progress of capital city works and instructed the CRDA officials to prepare an action plan by fixing specified targetswhich have to be achieved at any cost by next Vijayadasami.

The Chief Minister directed the AP CRDA to issue expression of interest (EoI) to the construction cities to facilitate complete solutions for construction services. “The government is earmarking about 300 to 500 acres for the construction centers.

The complete building material would be made available at these construction centres. It will not only serve the needs of the state, but also help to develop building industry in India,” he said.

He also reviewed the layout plan for phase-1 of construction city in 147 acres at Nekkallu village in capital city area. Meanwhile, the officials have informed the Chief Minister that all the stakeholders had been working progressively to achieve the benchmark target. He added that over 90 percent of the total works worth Rs 48,115 crore had been tendered out.

CRDA Commissioner Ch Sreedhar explained that 59 percent of works worth Rs 28,522 crore were under execution, 31 percent of works worth Rs 14,665 crore were under tendering process and the remaining 10 percent works were at the pre-tender stage. He also informed that the major road network along with utilities would be completed by January 2019 and housing for 4,000 officials would be completed by February 2019.

Stating that he was not competing with centuries-old Hyderabad, Delhi and Chennai among others, the Chief Minister said that Amravati would be India’s first future city that would be the hub of all major activities in India.

Chandrababu Naidu said that Amaravati would be of Rs 1.20 lakh crore economy in the next 25 years and create 11-14 lakh jobs (direct and indirect). He also emphasised that efforts have to be made to create at least 70,000 jobs in the next three years in the capital city.

Minister for Municipal Administration Dr P Narayana, Chief Minister Office officials Satish Chandra, G Sai Prasad, Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) chairperson LakhsmiParthasaradhi, Principal Secretary to the Energy and CRDA, Ajay Jain, Commissioner of CRDA ChSreedharand other officials were present.
