Ongole: It is reported that many accidents occurred in recent times due to drunken driving.
Hence to prevent further loss of life, personal loss and property loss due to drunken driving, Prakasam district police conducted drunken driving checks during the period October 12-19.
During the check, 138 drivers were caught driving after consuming alcohol and cases under MV Act section 185 (A) were filed against them.
Apart from them, 68 others with pending cases were presented in the court.
Five persons were indicted with jail punishment and fines were imposed on others.
A total fine of Rs 1,08,800 was imposed by the court on drunken drivers.
