Vijayawada: Protesting the attack on the Leader of Opposition and YSRCP supremo YS Jaganmhan Reddy, the rank and file of party called for a State bandh on Friday.

They also called for rasta roko at all the district headquarters in the State on Friday. The activists staged a protest demonstration here on Thursday.

Former minister K Pardha Saradhi, former MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Velampalli Srinivas and Yalamanchali Ravi staged protest at Ramalingeswara Nagar centre and Kaleswararao Market Centre on Thursday. They raised slogans against the State government and demanded it to step up security for Jagan.

Later, they also met DGP RP Takur at his office and requested him to increase security for Jagan. Nuzvid MLA Meka Pratap Appa Rao also staged protest at Nuzvid town and burnt the State government’s effigy.

YSR Congress party Krishna District Doctors Cell president Dr Mahaboob also condemned the attack. Meanwhile, the leaders of CPI, CPM and Congress also condemned the attack on Jagan.

CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna, CPM state secretary P Madhu, APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy and Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao also condemned the attack. They said that there was no place for violence in the democracy.

However, the leaders of Telugu Desam countered the allegations of YSR Congress. MP Kesineni Srinivas and MLC Bachula Arjunudu said that the people of the state know the criminal background of the YSRC leaders.

They said that no leader in TDP has criminal background and added Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu never allowed the criminals in the politics.
