Rajya Sabha member Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy made an appeal to Union Minister Suresh Prabhu to provide Minimum Support Price MSP to the tobacco crop in the district He met Suresh Prabhu at his office in Delhi on Thursday and explained to him about hardships being faced by tobacco farmers
Nellore: Rajya Sabha member Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy made an appeal to Union Minister Suresh Prabhu to provide Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the tobacco crop in the district. He met Suresh Prabhu at his office in Delhi on Thursday and explained to him about hardships being faced by tobacco farmers.
Farmers, who are cultivating tobacco in Atmakur, Udayagiri, Kaligiri, Marripadu, Duttalur, Varikuntapadu, Vinjamur and in Podalakur have been facing severe trouble due to drop in the price every year.
He stated that he sought the Tobacco Welfare Fund to extend financial assistance to the tobacco farmers. Prabhakar Reddy explained that the Minister gave an assurance for supporting the tobacco farmers in the district by providing MSP to the tobacco crop from next year onwards.
