Tirupati: Joint Secretary (Ministry of Urban Development) S Sanjay Kumar has launched the first Government E-Market (GEM) here on Saturday.

The GEM was sanctioned to five states by the Central government. The first one among all states was launched here for women Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

In a review meeting with Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) Project Directors (PDs) of 13 districts, Sanjaya Kumar has appreciated the AP government’s efforts for elimination of poverty by implementing various programmes at grass-root level.

On the occasion, he distributed Rs 3.69 crore revolving fund to the women SHGs.

Speaking to the media, Sanjay Kumar said women SHGs can sell their products through online by utilising e-marketing facility. MEPMA Director C Thataiah was also present.
