Vijayawada: ‘The Hans India’ Senior Photographer Ch Venkata Mastan received SPAAP Achievement Award for the photo titled Kadhakali in Photo Travel category.

Another Photographer of ‘The Hans India’ Y Vinay Kumar received FIP Ribbon Award for the photo titled Fire Accident in Spot News category. They received the awards from Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Ramamohan and Andhra Jyothi Editor K Srinivas on the occasion.

Water Resources Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao presented awards to the winners of 3rd India Press Photo Awards-2018 organised by the State Photo Journalists Association of Andhra Pradesh (SPAAP) at the Culture Centre here on Thursday.

The award function was jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh Srujanatmakata and Samskruti, the State Photo Journalists Association and the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati to mark the 139th birth anniversary of Oskar Barnack, inventor of camera.

Speaking on the occasion, Umamaheswara Rao appreciated all the photographers for their contribution and said photography was a very powerful tool that captures the attention of readers of newspapers and magazines. He also presided over the presentation of 2018-India Photo Awards ceremony.

T Srinivasa Reddy, chairman, SALON and General Secretary, AP Photography Akademi briefed on Photo Journalism Day celebrated in memory of Ascor Barnack.

Y Harish Chandra Prasad, Founder and Chief Mentor, Malaxmi Group and Chairman of CCVA, Srinivas, Secretary, AP Press Academy, Gottipati Rama Krishna Prasad, TDP leader, A Anjaneyulu, APUQJ chief, Ch Vijaya Bhaskar, Ch Narayana of AP Photo Journalists Association attended the programme.

The exhibition of the award-winning photographs drew a huge crowd from city apart from photo journalists from AP and Telangana.
