Bhimavaram: Laying of water supply lines under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) has left many roads damaged in the town.

Traffic in the town is facing trouble, as the works have been incomplete for months. The roads in many areas are dug and left uncovered after the water pipelines are laid.

The potholes and heaps of concrete pieces in the middle of the road made the vehicle ride more dangerous, people complain.

The municipal authorities took up drinking water supply works under AMRUT scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.

Under the scheme, the town would get new water supply lines apart from construction of three reservoirs and a treatment plant. The works remained unfinished for three years.

While treatment plant and reservoir works were still in its initial stages, the pipeline laying works were progressing at a snail’s pace. The pipelines works would help in supply of safe water to all 39 wards in the town.

At many places old pipelines were leaking leaving pools of water on roads.

Even as the new pipeline works still continue, the roads were left without leveling of the roads. Vehicle riders especially bike riders suffering a lot with bad shape of the roads.
