Eluru: Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa inaugurated two police quarters, Gautami and Godavari, for Armed Reserve police personnel at district police headquarters here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government had spent Rs 23 lakh on construction of each quarters. For the first time, the houses were build in an extent of 1,030 feet area as against usual 500 feet area.

He informed that out of 76 model police stations taken up, construction of 50 stations were complete. The government had plans to take up new buildings in different stations along with housing activity for police personnel.

The government would not compromise on quality in construction, he said. The minister informed that the government issued notification for filling up of 3,137 posts and the written examination for the same would be conducted during December and January.

DGP Thakur said that the government was striving for friendly policing in the state.

Mayor Noorjahan, Excise Minister Jawahar, police housing board chairman Nagul Meera, MLAs Badeti Bujji and Ch Prabhakara Rao, MLCs MA Sharif and Surya Rao, MP Maganti Babu and others were present.
