Vijayawada: Secretary to the department of Information and public relations B Ramanjaneyulu has said that artistes play very important role in creating awareness among the people on the welfare schemes being implemented by the Government.

Ramanjaneyulu addressed the state level training programme conducted for folk artistes at the Government College of Music and dance in Durgapuram on Tuesday. Several hundred folk artistes from different parts of the state participated in the training programme.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the department of information and public relations and department of culture and languages work together to train the artistes.

He said the government has decided to conduct awareness programmes in a massive way in 110 municipalities and 667 mandals in the State.

He said dress code was very important to the artistes and suggested them to follow the local slang and dialects to explain the government schemes to the people.

Department of creativity and culture chief executive officer Dr D Vijay Bhaskar and others spoke on the occasion.
