AP Anti Corruption Bureau performing better than CBI: Chandrababu Naidu
Reacting for the first time on barring Central Bureau of Investigation from Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stated that as the institution had indulged in corruption and lost credibility, he withdrew the General Consent given to them
Amaravati: Reacting for the first time on barring Central Bureau of Investigation from Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stated that as the institution had indulged in corruption and lost credibility, he withdrew the General Consent given to them. He said that the AP Anti Corruption Bureau has been performing better than the CBI and hence there was no need to depend on the Central agency. Naidu spoke to reporters after having a meeting with High Court Judges in Vijayawada on Saturday.
The Chief Minister further stated that as the cases were pending against the officials of CBI in the Supreme Court, the truth must be established in the court. “The CBI itself indulged in corruption allegations and the institution lost credibility. Hence there is no need to delegate our State authorities to Centre. Our ACB has been better performing than the CBI”, he said. “All these cases are pending in Supreme Court. They have to be established in a proper manner. At this juncture, we thought that we can do better than them. Hence, we withdrew our General Consent,” the Chief Minister pointed out.
Reacting on withdrawal of General Consent accorded to CBI by the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Chandrababu Naidu said that, “Many states have been coming forward along with Andhra Pradesh. Majority states will follow us. It strengthens the autonomy of State governments.” He claimed that AP was one of the least corrupt state and ranked 3 in least corrupt states index.He hoped that the corruption could be reduced further in the state by using own mechanism.
