Vijayawada: BSNL General Manager B Ravi Kumar said that India is the second biggest telecom market in the world and telecom services and digital transactions are increasing rapidly every year.

He said crores of consumers are opting digital transactions for payments in day today life and telecom operators are rendering wide range of services to the customers.

Ravi Kumar attended the Digital Payment Mela conducted by the Department of Telecommunications at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here on Saturday.

Network companies, bankers, traders and consumers attended the meeting. Ministry of Telecommunications Principal Controller Srikath Panda inaugurated the Mela by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the gathering Ravi Kumar said that digital transactions were increasing in India rapidly for the last few years and added 36 percent of the online transactions were digital transactions and more people were using digital services for payments.

He said digital transactions were made for recharge, value added services, online payments and other services.

He said the BSNL was offering services like hotspot, WiFi, landline, mobile services, leased lines to many pubic and private sector banks, government departments and video conference facility.

He said optical fibre network being used by the BSNL was reliable and useful to many government departments in the country and added the services could be availed by downloading the BSNL App.

Telecommunications Principal Controller Srikath Panda explained the services rendered by the telecom companies in the country.

BSNL Sales and Marketing Manager A Venkateswara Rao, representatives of telecom companies and banks spoke on the occasion.

The bankers have arranged stalls and distributed pamphlets explaining the mobile apps and types of services they were rendering to the customers.
