Farmers stage dharna for water
Farmers staged a dharna on GunturParachur Road at Koyavaripalem village under Prattipadu mandal of Guntur district on Sunday, demanding that the government release water to save standing crops
Guntur: Farmers staged a dharna on Guntur-Parachur Road at Koyavaripalem village under Prattipadu mandal of Guntur district on Sunday, demanding that the government release water to save standing crops.
They said that due to release of water from Vanakayalapadu Channel, they can save chillis, cotton and other crops.
Farmers holding placards including women and men squatted on the road and raised slogans for release of water from Vankayalapadu Channel immediately.
They alleged that the government had failed to release water to save standing crops and added that due to non-availability of water, chilli and cotton crops were getting damaged.
They demanded that the government release water from Vankayalapadu major and extend helping hand to the farmers.
When the large number of farmers stages dharna, the vehicles stranded on the road.
