Nellore: A medical professional drove a car rashly crashing into pedestrians and others on the GNT Road in the city on Saturday and caused severe injuries to them. Police took Managing Director of Agarwal Eye Hospital Dr Sivapratap Reddy into custody as 7 persons received injuries. According to the police and eyewitnesses, medical Professional Dr Sivapratap Reddy filled petrol in his car at the petrol bunk opposite Bollineni Hospital in the city.

After that he drove the car rashly on the main road and hit two women, men waiting for a share auto, two others waiting for a bus and they sustained minor injuries. Later he also hit a motorcyclist returning from petrol bunk and another car. The injured were admitted to a private hospital. An eyewitness said that they were shocked as the car which came at a high speed hit people waiting for share auto on the GNT Road. “The car stopped after hitting an auto,” he said. On receiving the information, local police rushed to the spot and enquired with the people about the accident. They registered a case and took Dr Sivapratap Reddy into custody for investigation.
