Bangarupalem: Gold ornaments worth Rs 2.8 crore were stolen from a private Volvo bus near Bangarupalem in Chittoor district. The incident happened in the bus, which was travelling from Vizag to Bengaluru on Saturday morning.

The incident came to light when the Mumbai base jewellery approached the police and lodged a complaint with the Palamaner sub-division police.

According to police, the owner of the jewellery mart in Mumbai was carrying the gold ornaments to Bengaluru in a bus and the gold bag found missing when the bus stopped at a roadside hotel for breakfast at Bangarupalem.

The police registered a case and verified the CC camera footage in and around the crime spot and vital junctions between Chittoor and Palamaner.

DSP NTV Ramkumar visited the crime spot along with the clues team and formed special parties to trace the culprits.
