Amaravati: With Telangana elections coming to an end, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is now relatively free, wants to focus on consolidating the backward classes ahead of elections in just five months to AP Assembly by organising BC Jayaho convention at Rajamahendravaram before the end of this month.

Chandrababu Naidu wants to keep the BC vote-bank intact as it happens to be Telugu Desam Party's backbone. The BCs stood by Telugu Desam Party all along in expression of gratitude to NT Rama Rao for socio-economic empowerment and helping them have a slice in political power. The Telugu Desam Party wants to hold district-level BC conventions before organising the state-level mega event at Rajamahendravaram.

Naidu has already directed the leaders to explain to the people at district-level conventions what the TDP had done for them during the last four-and-a- half years. Naidu told the leaders over a teleconference on Wednesday that BCs are a constituency they could ill afford ignoring them.

Naidu is categorical that the BCs should be reminded of Adarana -II programme that is being implemented in the state which aims in providing implements to various communities that are necessary for them to continue their principal avocation.

The TDP supremo wanted the leaders to come up with more schemes for the BCs. At the same time, he asked the party leaders to make Grama Vikasam programme a success. So far 47 per cent of the villages in the state have been covered under this programme and wanted the leaders to ensure that the remaining villages too are covered, he said.

Naidu suggested to AP leaders to take a leaf out of the lives of TDP legislators Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and M Nageswara Rao who won Sattupalli and Ashwaraopet seats respectively in Khammam district in Telangana. They were always in the midst of the people and were available to them whenever they were in need. He also directed the party leaders to focus on the booth committees and electoral rolls from now on.
