Light to moderate rain fall recorded acrossSrikakulam district on Monday due to Pethai cyclone. District Collector, K.Dhanunjaya Reddy, Joint collector, KVN Chakradhara Babu have monitored the cyclone situation round the clock. They declared half day holiday for all government educational institutions on second shift and private educational institutions declared full day holiday in the wake of cyclone warning. Leave cancelled for all government officials and staff and asked them to join in duties immediately to serve better to affected people.

Total 249.02 mm rain fall recorded across the district till evening and average rain fall was recorded as 6.6 mm. Highest rain fall recorded in Vangara mandal as 44.8 mm, in Veeragattam mandal 20.4 mm, in Regidi mandal total rain fall was 14.8 mm, in Kotturu mandal 11.8 mm, in Ranastalam mandal 11.6 mm, in L.N.Peta mandal 10.4 mm and in other mandals rain fall was recorded as below 10 mm.

Control rooms also arranged at collectorate and other three revenue division offices across the district to monitor cyclone related rain fall events round the clock. Toll free numbers also allotted to collect information from the public on cyclone related incidents. People can call to 08942-240557 at collectorate, 08942-222314 at Srikakulam RDO office, 08941-260144 at Palakonda RDO office, 08945-244245 at Tekkali RDO office. Cyclone relief centers also opened at cyclone shelters in sea coast mandals in Srikakulam.
