Eluru: District Collector K Bhaskar has directed the officials to engage one lakh farmers in natural farming by next kharif. He reviewed primary sector at Collectorate here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he informed that 50,000 farmers have been indulged in natural farming in the district during the rabi season. He asked the natural farming project manager to evolve a plan to achieve target set for next kharif. He also directed him to ensure priority to natural farming. He said each of these one lakh farmers would motivate five farmers to increase the number of farmers engaged in natural farming to five lakh.
The Collector directed the officials to take appropriate steps to supply fertilisers to farmers. He wondered why the officials failed to supply boron to farmers though nine metric tonnes was supplied to the farmers during rabi season.
