Visakhapatnam: The city police on Monday recovered 200 grams of gold worth Rs 6,40,320 from various criminals who were arrested in the past. After two weeks of interrogation among the arrested notorious criminals of Chaddi Banian gang, the police recovered 170 grams of gold ornaments worth of Rs 5,10,000, said DCP (Crime) AR Damodhar at police conference room in the city.

Addressing media, the DCP said during the interrogation of Chaddi gang leader M Kanji, he revealed the information regarding the stolen property among two cases under Duvvada police station and another at Bheemili police limits.

With the help of Dahod district police in Gujarat, our city police had recovered the stolen property of Rs 5,10,000, he added. The other stolen property was yet to be recovered as they had revealed some names in Gujarat, DCP added.

In another case, on receipt of a complainant, Pendurthy police had nabbed an accused who had stolen 21.40 grams of gold (worth of Rs 61,320) and tried to escape by narrating a story wisely and recovered the stolen property from the accused T Anil Kumar who is a resident of Chinnamushidiwada under Pendurthy police station limits.

In another chain snatching case, police managed to recover only 23 grams of gold against 289 grams gold stolen from the accused Gorle Santosh Kumar, who had committed various chain-snatching cases under MVP, III Town and Maddilapalem police station limits. At present the recovered asset will be marked around Rs 69,000 as per market value and the other stolen property was yet to be recovered, DCP added.
