Vijayawada: With the changing trends in upcoming capital city of Vijayawada, youth in and around the city are getting employment in various fields. Food delivery service is one among the numerous opportunities awaiting the youth.
These days the food delivery service is not restricted to metros and cosmos. It has entered two-tier and three-tier cities. About four companies which are into food delivery business started their services and had given employment to more than 4, 000 youth. Unemployed youth have a fairly good chance of getting part time and full time employment in this field. The innovative, new concept of food delivery service is attracting unemployed youth and also the employed youth into both full time and part time jobs.
R Suresh, finance executive of Swiggy, told ‘The Hans India’ that the company provides employment to a good number of unemployed youth both male and female. He said that after recruitment, they provide basic training to the employees on the pickup and delivery rules and on road safety besides providing employees health and family insurance. Each employee earns between Rs 10,000 and Rs 18, 000 per month, he says.
On a few occasions like holidays, long weekends and festival seasons, they earn more incentives. The basic requirement of the candidate is to have skills on internet with minimum Class X qualification along with a two-wheeler and valid driving license.
S Anil Kumar, B Tech graduate working for Zomato as delivery executive said, “I am very much satisfied with the job in Zomato. Earlier, I worked in a private company. However, after the company was shut down I joined Zomato as delivery executive and earn more than Rs 20,000 per month. When asked about purpose of his B Tech qualification in discharging duty of delivery executive, Anil said that a few people who had done PG and even Ph D have taken this job.
M Venkateswara Rao, a retired employee, said that after the food delivery services introduced in the city, he was relieved from hunger. He says, "My children stay abroad and to go out to buy food from restaurant is a tedious and hectic job in the heavy traffic. Now, I can get nice recipes by ordering over Swiggy, Zomato, Uber Eats, Food Panda and Mancha online food delivery services."
CS Krishnan, a private employee, said that as she reaches the office early, most of the time she skips breakfast at home and orders breakfast and lunch online. She said that the food delivery services also give offers on weekends and festival seasons which were attractive.
