Manipal Hospitals here organised a campaign with slogan You Can Save Life Anywhere in the city to mark World Ambulance Day on Wednesday
Vijayawada: Manipal Hospitals here organised a campaign with slogan ‘You Can Save Life Anywhere’ in the city to mark World Ambulance Day on Wednesday.
The programme was aimed at creating awareness and training people with life saving techniques. The event witnessed around 210 people participating in the Manipal ambulance rally and training of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator). The campaign was flagged off by Ch Dwaraka Thirumala Rao, Commissioner of Police.
Speaking on the occasion, Thirumala Rao said that it was essential for each and every one of us to know the importance of ambulances and the role they play in saving lives. It is not only the traffic police’s responsibility to make way for ambulances but all the general public. They need to feel empathetic and be responsive. “I feel privileged to be part of this noble and unique initiative of Manipal Hospitals and appreciate each and every one behind this,” he added.
Dr Sudhakar Kantipudi said in today’s fast paced era, a lot of people were seen losing their lives in road accidents. “Ambulances play an important role in saving their lives. However, ambulances are seen ignored by people not paving way for them. It is extremely important to sensitize people on how critical it is to give way to an ambulance and if people understand this, then half the battle is won.
The rationale behind organizing this campaign is to promote and educate the public on the importance of the golden hour as well as to tell them how essential it is to give way for an ambulance. With this aim, Manipal Hospitals, through these campaigns planned to train general public on the usage of handy life saving techniques like CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator),” he said.
Dr Manoj Kumar, Chief of Clinical Services, Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, Dr Srinivasan, Consultant Emergency Medicine, Manipal Hosptials, Vijayawada and Manipal Hospitals other doctors, staff participated in this programme.
