Visakhapatnam: A group of people is making arrangements for live webcast of the most popular cockfights from West and East Godavari districts during Sankranti. However, the entry into the ‘dens’ will be highly restricted and limited to only selected people who have to pay Rs 1,500 per head. There is said to be a big demand for the slots in these dens from the punters, who are missing live cockfights in the twin Godavari districts.

According to information, a group of young engineers is making the arrangements to provide live telecast of the matches from villages near Bheemavaram, Undi, Ganapavaram of West Godavari and villagers surrounding Ravulapalem, Amalapuram, Jaggampeta Sakhinetipalli areas. The events can be watched on the screens with live audio with the home theatre effects.

The people who wish to bet on the cocks can make their payments into the organisers’ account through various popular payment apps. In view of the security aspect, the organisers are not arranging payment through cards.

With the help of the HD cameras, the cockfights will be uploaded to a system at the spot and will be transmitted to the selected parties. The organisers will give the IP address to the parties, who can only open and watch the fights. The organisers are also said to be arranging alcoholic drinks and varieties of dishes to the punters at a price.

In fact, during last year’s Sankranti too attempts were made to live telecast the cockfights from Bheemavaram on a trial basis. This time the organisers enrolled the names of the interested people, who are familiar and reliable.

There is said to be a good response with several suggestions being made to make watching the blood sport a memorable experience. The cocmatches will be live telecast on January 13, 14 and 15. Interestingly, some of the people are coming with families also, the sources said.
