Vijayawada: There would not be any change in the caste, date of birth or place of birth for the citizens, said Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Punetha while giving orders to issue the permanent caste certificate which includes the date of birth and place of birth to the citizens.

Addressing the Secretaries of various departments at the Collectors’ Conference hall at the 5th Block of the Secretariat on Friday, the chief secretary said that it was not proper to make the students, unemployed youth and the beneficiaries of government schemes run from pillar to post every six months seeking caste certificates. “Once given, such certificate should be useful throughout once’s life,” he added.

However, there would be change in income certificates but that could be used for four years, he said. He instructed the Secretaries to bring awareness among the staff of all departments regarding the issuance of certificates.

He suggested to Ahmad Babu, CEO of RTG, to discuss the certificate issue with the e-Governance, IT advisor J Satyanarayana before preparing the government order in 15 days.

The chief secretary said that unnecessary certificates like police verification should be do away with after discussing with departments concerned.
Information and Public Relations secretary Ramanjaneyulu, thanking the chief secretary for taking the decision on certificates, said that people were being troubled in the name of certificates for the last 60 years. The chief secretary instructed the secretaries and heads of all departments to prepare the files which needed approval of the Cabinet on January 21.

Punetha also instructed the secretaries to submit the utility certificates immediately whenever necessary and focus on getting more Central funds.
Special chief secretaries Dr D Sambasiva Rao, Nirab Kumar Prasad, JSV Prasad, Adityanath Das, G Anant Ram, principal secretaries K Pravin Kumar, Ajay Jain, R Karikala Valavan, B Udayalakshmi, secretaries Ramanjaneyulu, Sasibhushan Kumar, Piyush Kumar, Mukesh Kumar Meena, Nagulapalli Srikant, Industries secretary Siddhartha Jain and others were present.
