Nellore: District Collector R Mutyala Raju directed the officials to make the three-day Flamingo Festival a grand success which is slated to be held from January 20.

The Collector held a review meeting with officials concerned at his camp office in the city on Thursday and asked the Transco officials to provide uninterrupted power supply at four venues during the festival to organise events without any difficulty during nights.

He asked the municipal officials to set up mobile toilets at these four places where the festival would be conducted. Mutyala Raju instructed the RWS officials to provide safe drinking water to the visitors. Joint Collector-2 and DWMA Project Director have to inspect the arrangements of stalls at Sullurpeta, said Collector.

Ministers would launch the festival on the premises of the Government Junior College grounds in Sullurpeta. The Collector directed the Police department to arrange security in connection with the festival and instructed the Education department to announce holiday for all educational institutions in the district on January 20 for facilitating the students to visit the festival.

Officials were instructed to publicise the Flamingo Festival in rural areas and also to organise sports in Sullurpeta. He mentioned that the Flamingo Festival would be organised in Sullurpeta, Nelapattu, Atakanitippa and also in BV Palem for three days. He stated a rally would also be taken up in Nellore city for publicising the festival.

District Tourism Officer Srinivas Kumar, DWMA Project Director T Bapireddy, Deputy Transport Commissioner N Sivaram Prasad, DEO Samuel and others were present.
