Flamingo Festival begins today

Nellore:District administration organised an awareness rally on Flamingo Festival on Saturday from ACSR Stadium up to Kasturba Kalakshetram. Joint Collector-2 A Kamala Kumari formally flagged off the rally. Kamala Kumari said that the district administration would organise the festival from January 20 to 22 at Sullurpeta, Atakanitippa, BV Palem and Nelapattu and also said they had made elaborate arrangements for the festival.
She said around 150 species of winged guests from various countries visit the place during every winter for breeding and they had made arrangements for peaceful living of the birds asking the local population to be kind enough towards this migrated population.
She said the cultural events being organised during the fest would attract both adults and children.She said around 5 lakh people visited the Flamingo Festival last year to view the winged guests.
Athletes from SAAP and studentsfrom various institutions participated in the rally. Tourism officer Srinivasa Kumar, CEO of Setnel SV Suresh Babu, Project Director of DRDA Murali, DEO Samuel, PD of MEPMA Chiranjeevi and others were present.
