Protect age-old idols: BJP urges Joint Collector Vetri K Selvi

Nellore: Local BJP leaders handed over a memorandum to the Joint Collector Vetri K Selvi on Tuesday appealing her to take measures to protect age-old Shivalingam and idol of Ganesh located in Nellore tank. They expressed concern over plans to remove these heritage structures from their original places as part of development projects.
BJP leader Midathala Ramesh informed that works of Necklace Road are going on in city in fast pace with the funds from Amrut scheme. There are chances of removing these structures to some other places. Local scripture on stones revealed that they were constructed around 500 years back and it is responsibility of Nelloreans to protect them at any cost.
It may be noted that the municipal corporation has taken up development of tank works and proposed to shift the idols to other places. BJP leaders Suresh, Srinivasulu, Subba Reddy and others were present.
