Health Utopia-2019 at GITAM begins in Vizag
To create awareness about medical health and motivate the younger generation to take up medical profession, GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research GIMSR Medical College and Hospital initiated mega medical exhibition in the name of Health Utopia2019 here on Thursday District Collector Katamneni Bhaskar participated as chief guest and inaugurated the exhibition
Visakhapatnam: To create awareness about medical health and motivate the younger generation to take up medical profession, GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) Medical College and Hospital initiated mega medical exhibition in the name of “Health Utopia-2019” here on Thursday. District Collector Katamneni Bhaskar participated as chief guest and inaugurated the exhibition.
GITAM president Sribharath, vice-president Prof M Gangadhara Rao, in-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivaramakrishna, Registrar Prof KVGD Balaji, GIMSR Medical Superintendent Dr P Shyam Prasad, GIMSR Medical College Principal Dr M Jai Prakash Babu, Dental College Principal Prof K Gangadhara Prasad and other participated in the programme.
All the departments in GIMSR Medical College and Hospital opened to public. “This is the first time we have organised this exhibition. We are impressed by the first day response,” said by Medical Superintendent Dr P Shyam Prasad.
The purpose of the medical college was not only to produce doctor, but also to educate public on health aspects particularly the public must be educated on human physiology, new trends in curing ailments and issues that help maintain good health, he added.
He informed that stalls were put up in the exhibition to give information to visitors on medical aspects such as general medicine, social preventive medicine, neurology, gynaecology, radiology, orthopaedics, dentistry, ENT and cardiology.
It is always better to know the disease and its symptoms to prevent it and treat it at a very early stage. This exhibition provides one such opportunity, said by GITAM In-Charge Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivaramakrishna.
The main showstopper in the exhibition is department of anatomy where human body and its functions are explained on body parts. The centre of attraction is a scary house where medical students of anatomy department in a dark room showing skeleton to scare the visitors and give them a close view of skeletons for educating them on human body structure.
It is being appreciated by students and public alike, with about 2,000 visitors on first day itself. The medical exhibition is opened to public up to January 27.
