Visakhapatnam: GITAM Deemed to be University celebrated the 70th Republic Day in the varsity premises on Saturday with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour in all its solemnity and grandeur.

The celebration commenced with unfurling of National Flag by GITAM president Sribharth. This was followed by an NCC parade.

GITAM president Sribharath in his address paid tribute to the national heroes.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Drafting Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr B R Ambedkar for giving us a grand book of law in the form of the largest constitution of the world.

He said that for a vibrant democracy, participation of citizens in the process of governance through proper discharge of their civic duties was important.

He motivated that the students to work with sincerity and whole-hearted devotion for our Motherland and that will be the real tribute.

The celebrations were marked by short captivating cultural performances by the students.

The student teams narrated a brief history of 26th January, highlighting the significance that the Indian Constitution holds for every Indian citizen.

GITAM In-Charge Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivaramakrishna, Registrar Prof KVGD Balaji and others participated in the celebrations.
