Rajamahendravaram: Leaving no-space for any other party appears to be the strategy of the TDP which on Sunday announced several sops for the BC communities s in the state.

Addressing the ‘Jayaho BC’ public meeting at the Government Arts College grounds here on Sunday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the government would convert all BC Federations into Corporations.

This, in other words, would mean that Yadavas, Toorpu Kapus, Fishermen community, Agnikula Kshatriyas, Varnikula Kshatriyas, Setti Balijas, Ediga, Srisaina, Yata, Gouds, Koppula Velamas, Viswabrahmins, Vadderas, handloom weavers, Kalingas, Gavaras, Garlas, Rajakas and toddy tapper communities will have separate corporations which will strive for the development of these sections. Naidu said the corporations will be provided with necessary funds also.

In addition, Naidu said that Nayee Brahmins and handloom weavers would get free power up to 150 units and the government will make efforts to add Valmiki Boya community in the list of STs. Amidst cheers from huge crowd that attended the meeting, Naidu said the government will bring in BC subplan which will have legal and constitutional sanctity.

Continuing showering of sops, the CM said the subsidy being given to most backward BCs would be increased from the present Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 and Bhagiratha Jayanti will be celebrated as state function. He said despite whatever the TDP had done so far there were still many communities among the BCs who need a helping hand. Hence, the government has decided to give free power up to 100 units to Budabukkala, Dommara and goldsmiths.

The government, he said, will constitute a committee for the welfare of these communities. To help the weavers’ community, Naidu said the government would increase the money it was giving for the purchase of yarn from present Rs 1000 to Rs 2000.

Naidu said his government wants the BCs should grow as entrepreneurs and hence it has decided to allot 175 plots in the MSMEs that would be coming soon in the area and will also provide a subsidy of 25% of the cost of the land.

He further said the government would provide insurance to Yadava and Kurma communities which are into sheep rearing and the premium would be borne by the government.

Since the TDP means BCs and BCs mean TDP, the government has accepted the demand for starting a separate college for Dolu and Sannai artisans at Amravati.

sHe said this art form was dying and needs to be revived and encouraged. Emphasising on the need to uphold the dignity of the BC communities, it would soon issue a GO wherein using the names of castes Dommara, Uppara, Pamula, etc, would be banned.

Listing out what the TDP had done for the BCs so far, Naidu said he would always be indebted to them for having stood by the party and asked them to extend similar cooperation during the ensuing elections as well.

Lashing out at the TRS and YSRCP, Naidu said the TRS government had removed about 32 communities from the BC list and yet the YSRCP was supporting them. Even the Congress government led by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in united Andhra Pradesh did injustice to the BCs. He had added 22 communities in the BC list but did not increase the reservations for them. The BC federations had to starve for funds, he said.
