Visakhapatnam: Eating a handful of almonds in a day is healthier alternative to fried snacks, said Nutritionist Anjali Dange V during a finale of a cookery competition held by the Board of California Almonds here on Tuesday in the city. Several working women and housewives took part in the competition and presented various dishes with almonds during the cooking sessions.

The Board of California, a non-profit organisation under the United States department of Agriculture, has been conducting cook out session at 15 cities across India by inviting women and home makers to try out various snacks, sweets and savories, giving a twist to the traditional dishes prepared during festive occasions.

D Venkata Naidu , Executive Chef, Dolphin Hotel, (Visakhapatnam) said that now a days, people are well health conscious on their diet. Archana won the first prize for her chicken badam, in the snacks category while Srujana bagged the first prize for badam bobbatlu in the festive category, he added.
