Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi expressed concern over the over 81 lakh cases pending in various high courts.

He was addressing the meeting after inaugurating the temporary high court building at Amaravati on Sunday.

The Chief Justice said that apart from other reasons, large number of vacancies of judge posts is the big reason.

“About 400 judge posts are vacant and high courts need to clear the recommendations for filling the posts.”

He appealed to the Chief Justices of the two Telugu States to clear the recommendations as quickly as possible
