Sanskrit expo brings ancient culture live

Tirupati: The Sanskrit Science exhibition being organised by Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) here from February 4 to 7 as part of the ongoing 13th All India Sanskrit Students Talent Festival, provides valuable ancient information to visitors. Various stalls at the exhibition tried to display scientific thought was as old as Vedas in India.

With the help of several posters, prototypes, panels and others, they tried to bring a comparison of ancient insights and current discoveries. It says, the word Ayurveda was composed of two Sanskrit words, ‘Ayuh’ which means ‘Life’ and ‘Veda’ which means knowledge. Together they mean knowledge or science of life.

The posters explained the Ayurveda methods of treatment under each category of botany, physics, chemistry, medicine etc., One poster says that the leaves of Aswattha are to be kept on the ear and heated and through that oil will be extracted and dropped in the ear which removes pain.

One poster in Astronomy division presented the fact that the law of Planetary Motion was first stated by Aryabhata in the 5th century AD, much before the first law of planetary motion was given by Johannes Kepler in 17th century.

The exhibition displayed number of posters and prototypes from ayurvedic, vedic, musical, Agama and other concepts through which the students can enrich their knowledge further. The young generation might not be aware of various Agama procedures and the issues involved in it like performing Yagas, Homas and pujas in temple.

Sri Venkateswara Vedic University has come forward to exhibit various types of Agama like Pancharatrya, Vaikhanasa and Saivagama. They also tried to display the Yagasala and several types of instruments to be used while performing Yagas.

Miniature models of Rathas used by kings in ancient times and the instruments being used in Yagas can be witnessed. The faculty of SV Vedic University were explaining various ways of praying god through the prototypes of temples, Yagasala etc., to enlighten their importance.

Similarly, SV Ayurvedic College opened a stall to show how Ayurveda has been giving the people a healthy and peaceful life. Sri Venkateswara Music College stall displayed music instruments and other exhibits and explaining various aspects of music and dance.

The Yoga Vijnana department of RSVP in its stall has been demonstrating yogic science by which the society will be benefitted as far as the health is concerned. The Odisha Chair of RSVP has demonstrated the ancient culture and literature of various temples and saints and the philosophy of Jagannath, Chaitanya and Jayadeva.

Also, several manuscripts, teaching aids, publications of RSVP and Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Tirupati and Sanskrit Wikipedia outreach activities were also exhibited in other stalls.

Several schools have been sending their students to the exhibition to enrich their knowledge and have a better understanding on the rich ancient culture. Denizens were also queuing up to visit the exhibition which was inaugurated by the former DGP of AP Dr K Aravinda Rao on Monday.
