Thousands of devotees from various parts of the country participated in the threeday Gunadala Mary Matha annual festival which began on Saturday on a grand note

Vijayawada: Thousands of devotees from various parts of the country participated in the three-day Gunadala Mary Matha annual festival which began on Saturday on a grand note.

The festival celebrations started by offering the holy prayer in the presence of Vijayawada Catholic Dioceses Bishop T Joseph Raja Rao along with Rev Chako, Rev Sebastian, Rev Anthony Kumar and Rev Savariyappan Rajappa.

Devotees from Vijayawada and adjacent States thronged the church premises to participate in the holy mass and seek the blessings of Mother Mary on the first day.

A church father from Belgium participated in the celebrations on the first day.

Traffic restrictions and diversions were imposed for the convenience of devotees and APSRTC is plying special buses to Gunadala Mary Temple besides the Railways provided a temporary stop at Gunadala railway station for all the express trains.

Rector Muvvala Prasad said 150 rooms were provided to devotees who wish to stay overnight near the temple premises.
