Kurnool: CB Harinath Reddy, Commissioner of Kurnool Municipal Corporation, has inspected the sanitary conditions on the National Highway (NH) here on Wednesday. He was accompanied by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Executive Engineer Bala Ganesh.

Both the officers inspected the sanitary conditions prevailing at the Bellary crossroads, Santosh Nagar, Sunkesula road and Krishna Nagar railway gate.

He said that it was necessary to maintain cleanliness on either side of the national highway, apart from the city. Later, the civic chief also inspected the roadside ‘dhabas’ and ordered them to maintain dustbins so that the municipal tractors would lift garbage from them.

On his way to Venkataramana Colony, he came across a mutton vendor maintaining his shop in an untidy manner. After inspecting the shop, he called upon the officials concerned and directed them to seize the shop.

The Commissioner warned that he would take stringent action in case if anyone was using the plastic. Despite issuing several instructions from the departments not to use plastic, some people are still using them, he stated.

He also issued memos to the sanitation inspector and other department officials and sought explanation from them as to why they should not be suspended within 15 days of the receipt of the memo. Health Officer Ali Khan, sanitation inspectors, Ramesh, Parashuram and other civic staff were also present.
