Kakinada: East Godavari Legal Advisory Cell secretary Srinivas has said that coordinated effort is needed to create awareness among public on elimination of child labour.Participating in a workshop on child labour elimination at Chemists and Druggists Association hall here on Tuesday, he said that apart from the labour department, NGOs and social service organisations have been taking active part to counter child labour.
Despite the clear indication in law that children below 14 years of age should not be employed, the incidents are still happening. The legal service advisor said that children in the age group of 6 to 14 years should be sent to school. He called upon the public to extend their cooperation in elimination of child labour.
DC of labour P Srinivas who attended the workshop said that the child labour elimination workshops will be conducted in all the districts in the state. Deputy Director of social welfare D Sobharani, deputy inspector of factories Siva Kumar Reddy and others participated.
