Durga temple attracting more pilgrims in new State: Jeeyar

Vijayawada: Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamy visited Goddess Kanakadurga Temple on Indrakeeladri here on Saturday. On this occasion, he said that the visitors’ number has increased after the State bifurcation. He said that it appears Goddess Durga was welcoming the people with an open heart to the new State.

Expressing satisfaction over ongoing pooja rituals in the temple, he said that the Vedic committee and the temple administration were conducting pooja properly and also providing darshan to the devotees. People from all over the country are visiting Durga temple, he said.He said that the temples help the society to flourish. He pointed out that the temples have been continuing since the ancient days.

He said that education and health facilities were also being provided in the temples.Expressing ire over ongoing trends, he said that the lands of temples are being utilised for some other purposes against the original aims. This trend is not good for governments to pursue, he said. 

Though the free meals programme is provided in the temple but the schemes are not being implemented properly. He said that free meals also should be prepared like Prasadams. Temple EO Koteswaramma and several temple officials were also present.
