Bank of Baroda celebrated the Mother Language Day at St Joseph Womens Degree College on Thursday to promote awareness on linguistic, cultural diversity and multilingualism

Visakhapatnam: Bank of Baroda celebrated the Mother Language Day at St Joseph Women’s Degree College on Thursday to promote awareness on linguistic, cultural diversity and multilingualism.

On the occasion, the bank organised essay writing competitions in three language (Telugu, Hindi & in English) for students of college. Bank assistant general manager of region Shailendra Kumar Singh and College Principal Dr Shyji P D inaugurated the celebrations.

Addressing the students, Shailendra Kumar Singh said the main purpose of celebrating this day is to promote awareness of language and cultural diversity across the world.

HoD of Hindi Department Dr P K Jayalakshmi said the UNESCO has been observing February 21 as International Mother Language Day to promote and disseminate mother tongues. She hailed the efforts of Bank of Baroda for promoting the local languages and conducting the essay writing and other competitions for students. Later prizes were given to winners of essay writing competitions.

The bank staff explained the women products such as Baroda Mahila Shakti Scheme to the students. In the end, vote of thanks given by G Vijay Kumar, Bank of Baroda OL Manager.
