Kanekal(Anantapur): In a bizarre incident, a son doused his parents with petrol and set them ablaze as they rejected his demand to provide him his share in the property.

The ghastly incident took place at Ramnagar Colony in Kanekal mandal on Sunday. The victims are undergoing treatment in hospital. According to Kanekal Sub-Inspector Venkateshwarlu, Narayana Reddy and his wife Narasamma are residents of Ramnagar Colony. They were blessed with three sons.

Their youngest son Madhusudan Reddy had been pressurising them that they should give him his share of property by disposing off their one acre land and the house in which they were living.

But his parents rejected his demand as the one-acre agriculture land is the only source of livelihood for the family. The dispute over the issue had been going on for quite some time between the youngest son and parents.

In a fit of rage on Sunday, Madhusudan Reddy poured petrol on his father and mother and set them ablaze. Their neighbours came to their rescue after hearing their screams and doused the flames. They immediately rushed them to government hospital in Bellary town which is close to the mandal.

They also lodged a complaint at Kanekal police station. Both Narayana Reddy and Narasamma are fighting for their life. Police took Madhusudan Reddy into custody and are carrying out investigation.
