Kakinada: The six-day festivities of Uma Kukkuteswara Temple in Pithapuram, about 20 kilometres from here on Saturday, commenced from March 2.

According to temple executive officer P V Chalapati Rao, huge devotee turnout is expected from Maha Sivaratri day on Monday.

On the first day on Saturday, Abhishekam, Gajarohana and other rituals were conducted. On the second day on Sunday, Gramostavam (visit of Goddess Uma and Kukkuteswara through the main streets of the town) will be conducted.

On 4th day festivities of Kukkuteswara will be conducted on massive scale with participation of devotees on Mahasivaratri day.

On the first day of festivities, MLA SVSN Varna had dashan of Lord Kukkuteswara along with his wife.
