Jaguar’s upcoming SUV C-X17, concept of which was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo, will be a crossover going by the name F-Pace and is scheduled to be launched in 2016. This would be their first performance crossover which the management likes to call as the ultimate sports car and will be manufactured at their Solihull plant.

The crossover claims to have class leading interior space coupled with outstanding on-road dynamics with five-seat usability. The beautiful design, precise handling, supple ride, luxurious interior trims and cutting-edge technology shall be at the core of this new product.

The underpinning is Jaguar’s new innovative aluminium-intensive architecture and advanced suspension system. The powertrain, though not confirmed, shall in all probability be the new line of Ingenium engines. F-Pace will also get the intuitive all-wheel drive called All-Surface Progress Control technology which helps in achieving all-weather, all-surface confidence and safety.

The Family Sports Car brings back the tag line Grace, Pace, Space, which the company used to incorporate in the 50s. The F-Pace is named in tandem with their legendary sports car on sale now, the F-Type. And if the lineage is traced back to the F-Type, how can a performance oriented engine be far behind. We do expect the supercharged 3.0 L V6 also to find a home in the crossover.

The F-Pace is scheduled to be launched in India as well. It is a bit longer than the Range Rover Evoque which will definitely boil down to better interior space, something which we Indians will love. The F-Pace will be their new model surge along with the XE sedan and thanks to these two models Jaguar expects its annual sales to cross 2 lakh units.
